The Association for Art History is the subject association for art history in the UK. We champion a broad and inclusive art history through our advocacy, events, grants, networks, membership and publications. It’s our role to promote the value of art history and visual culture today, as well as bring people together to share knowledge, inspire new thinking and advance research. We have a current membership of about 1,200, who are supported by a team of five staff based in our central London offices.

As our new Chief Executive, you’ll join us at an incredibly important and exciting time as you help shape a transformational strategy that will realise our considerable potential. This is a complex and challenging role that requires energy, imagination and resilience. We are looking for somebody who can demonstrate a track record of leading organisational change within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. You will possess sophisticated communication skills, have effective stakeholder engagement strategies, and strong partnership development experience to be able to navigate our internal and external environments and balance many competing views.

Credible and effective in an ambassadorial role across media, policy and campaigning, public affairs and industry engagement, you will also be an inspirational and collaborative leader with a track record of enhancing organisational performance and impact. We also need somebody with commercial expertise, comprehensive financial management experience and a track record in diversifying organisational income streams.
